Ive begun the process and am pretty excited about it. Pulled the tank and carb assembly off today. I will be tackling the carb next. Anyway, the poor girl has no starter button. I can see some wires through the hole where it was but that is probably the kill switch. I followed the wire sheath from the throttle assembly along the frame to a connector. The male plug from the throttle assembly has 4 wires while the female plug that runs further down the frame (likely to the relay) only has 3 wires. I found that strange but not shocking. I dont have any wiring diagrams yet but can anyone let which is the trigger wire for the relay? Once i get her back together and throw a battery on it i would certainly like to attempt to start it.

The little lip aroung the button breaks easily and they fall out. I have a broken one in my XJ550 (1982) as well, but it is still there. Len at XJForever on this site has nice replacements. I will be doing mine sometime soon if you need a picture or two, but it will not be this weekend. PM me for a pic
