It took me a couple of viewings to see what actually caused it. He hit one of the chain-post pilings with his LH saddlebag; you can see it go tumbling a split second before he loses control.

I will say this, wet ferry boat ramps can be a bit of a challenge on a bike. He never got that far.

You should have a camera to capture the reactions of viewers...

From the description, I thought he and the bike were going in the water.

Someone put that clip up on Reddit, quick!

Bwaaahaaahaaaahahaha!! Looks like he got a pretty good taste of the ship's mast (or whatever they call that horizontal beam anyway).. I bet he'll be wearing a full helmet from now on... at least to hide the look of shame on his face!

Dang those MC license tests are hard over there!

Look out below! That was smooth!! Sorry but that is funny. He is actually really lucky as he landed well, at least he didn't split the boat rail or the mast with his body. The bike was the unlucky one.

Did he say 'oh nummits!!' at the 00:14 mark?

There's some debate elsewhere about it being staged, nice steady camera work and not even a "oh gosh" comment from the camera operator yet you clearly hear the impact from the bike

The nice came work is because this was supposed to be a test ride for a magazine. The guy is a French motorcycle journalist.

Well I guess he was just so eager to get sailing he didn't want to take the time to park the bike and walk to his boat. Decided to take a short cut.

    I doubt it was staged.
Who would really do such a thing on purpose?

Besides, he could have really been severely injured or killed if the bike came down on top of him.

Looks like the bike took the worst of it.
    Lucky for him.

Wow, I bid on a ST1100 a month or so ago on Ebay and didn't win. Glad I didn't, those rear bags are dangerous!
