Idle hands seem to create work.... uggghhhh.
I looked at the carbs sitting in the corner and curiosity had the better of me, what sort of condition are the diaphragms in? Not sure that I like what I see, splits on the creases..... all 4 of them.

The million dollar questions. Can you get new rubber diaphragms ? (dont like my chances) has anybody smudged silicone over the splits and did it work ?
    Any other bright ideas ?

Thanks for you help in advance I hope :)

I recently bought a set of diaphragms from JBM industries and they were great! Easy to install, noticed the difference straight away, you might need to re-balance the carbs but.

    cheers, Gareth

I would like to second the motion on the JBM diaphragms. I used them on a one of my carb sets and they are an excellent replacement for those tired old ones, and at a reasonable price. Make sure you measure your carbs properly before ordering by using the guidelines provided on their website.

I have used thin coats of gorilla glue to repair small pin holes before. Replacing them is always best in the log run. JBM's prices are pretty good.

    This technique works GREAT!

    "The RickCoMatic Patch" ©

    Diaphragm Rubber Repair:

Clean the Rubber with isopropyl alcohol.
Apply MASKING TAPE to the OPPOSITE SIDE of the Repair.
    (Holding the tear together > Perfectly< )
Cut the nozzle off a small Funnel to act as a form.
Tape the Rubber to the Form.
Make sure Rubber is not buckled or wrinkled.

    Salvage some "Repair Material"
(I used a small section of Material cut from a Nylon Windbreaker)

Cut-out a PATCH of Repair Material to COVER the TEAR.
Coat the Rubber over the TEAR with a thin coat of LIQUID Electrical Tape.
Be prepared to work the next steps QUICKLY!!!

    >> Quickly apply the Patch with TWEEZERS and "Iron-Out" any Air Bubble or wrinkle with a BIC Ball Point Pen. (Using the Cap to Iron and the Butt Blunt End to smooth.)

    Smooth-out Patch.
You don't get much time to do this.
The Liquid Electrical Tape cures very quickly.

    Once Dry:
Apply 2nd Coat of Liquid Electrical Tape over the whole patch.
When 1st side is dry ... repeat process on other side of Rubber ...

BUT, ... Don't Stick Tape on the Repair ...
Just Smooth the Diaphragm Rubber Out.

Duct tape fixes everything same thing rick said but with the covering crack or holes. ..reason I say this it I'm redoing my carbs now and found duct tape over the whole thing and best honest it ran good but leaked gas. ....... I probably should of duct taped the bowls....

:::: Another good "Patch Material" is a Repair Patch cut from the palm of a Nitrile Glove ::::

You should stock-up next time you go to the Doctors office!!!

The JBM diaphrams look like the best way to go. I hope you try them and post your results.
