A couple of buddies and I are going from Chilliwack BC to Oregon in june. One of them only has a learners licence but has past the skills test. Does anyone know if he would still be legal to ride in the USA? Also we want to atv or dune buggy on the sand dunes, any recomondations? Any reasonably price hotels along the coast?

If I were you jasonajwilson, I would be contacting ICBC and see what they say about the learners licence restrictions. I would venture a guess and say that it would not be recognized anywhere but BC.

thats my thoughts too. But the guy thinks he's fine. I told him to check it out or just take the road test.

I traveled through Oregon last fall, and it was beautiful driving down the coast. We saw signs for dune buggy rental starting at about Florence, and continuing on South of Reedsport, which is as far South as we went before heading East. It was the first week of August if I remember right, and despite leaving a 90 degree Portland, by the time we got to Lincoln City, it was in the 60's and windy. I'm guessing you know that, being a relative "local" to the west coast, I'm just an Ohioan giving my observations. Good luck, and stop by the "Devils Punchbowl" and the Goonies house in Astoria. There's also some great camping, but it filled up fast when we were there-call ahead if you can. We stayed in a hotel in Newport, it was around $40 I think, and there's a mexican place right next door with killer breakfast burritos and HORRIBLE coffee.
