soo checking my clearances. and ive come up with

    EXHAUST
    265 265 260 275 ( shim installed)

    .15 .15 .15 .10 (current clearance)

    260 260 255 265 (needed shim)

    INTAKE

    270 285 275 270 (shim installed)

    .15 .12 .8 .10 (current clearance)

    270 285 270 265 (shim needed)

these are all in order from #1 on the left to #4 on the right.

whats the easiest way to lay these out to figure out what i can swap where and what i need. my friggen brain is num from trying to see this puzzle in my head.. maybe ill try n put it on paper...

EDIT i put it on paper. let me run this against your brains to see if im correct. i have two 275 shims i wont need and i need a 260 and a 255 look correct guys? thanks in advance :D

    Your exhaust shims are correct.

The intake shims you listed are correct for 3 & 4. I'm assuming you didn't list 1 and 2 because they are currently in spec.

From what I see you need to order a 255 and 260 only..

    E1 needs 260 replace from E3 (move the 265 to I4)
    E2 order new 260
    E3 order new 255
    E4 needs 265 replace from E2

    I1 Good
    I2 Good
    I3 replace with 270 from I4
    I4 replace with 265 from E1

Is this what you got ?? Left with 2 spare 275's

I plugged your data into a spreadsheet I put together to do my valves and came up with the same thing. I tried to attach the Excel spreadsheet to this post but couldn't. Is there somewhere on the site I can share it?

    Your calculations are correct.

After you've done a half-dozen or more valve adjustments, you can do them in your head; it's not all that complicated. Down one size=add .05mm to the clearance. Down two sizes, add .10mm.

right on guys. thank you! question! what should a 285 measure? the 8 is a guess as it was just the shape ish. it could be a 6 for all i know. it measures 3.5 does this sound right? im not too concerned with it cause its on intake 2 and its in spec either way.

Believe a 285 should measure 2.85mm thick, a 280 would measure 2.80mm and so on.

Rick B is correct. Another way to check a shim you can't read is to slot it in place of one you can read and check clearance. Caliper's are easier though. I also took my unreadable shim and laid it on a flat surface-with a bright light behind I could compare it to a known shim-although this requires accurate 'eyeballing'.

I'll have to check LD. I'm away for 2 days but I will look when I get back. I know I have 3 shims I don't need so who knows, pretty sure I don't have a 255 though.
