650 maxim . Went for a ride yesterday , noticed my headlight was out . Turned around , went home . No juice at the socket . Put leads from headlight directly to battery and light works . Tried at the socket and juice again !?
Cleaned the connectors of the sealed beam and reattached worked for a few minutes , then out again . Played around with wiring under the tank with what I thought was the headlight relay (actually the flasher relay) as I found out later , and seemed to have sporatic power !?
Finally no matter what , no juice to the headlight .

    What now ?

Fuse block? After so many years, the clips that hold the fuses can become brittle and break. My main fuse was like that, would work fine up to 7000 rpm's, then nothing, engine died, had to coast to the side of the road and fiddle with the fuses till it worked again. I ended up replacing the fusebox with inline fuses, and when i checked the main fuse, the clip was cracked right where it was mounted in the box. cruzerjd

Yup - from your description I'd say there's corrosion on a connector somewhere - most likely culprit is the fusebox.

Checked the fuses , all good , all tight and power to all of them with the ignition on . Will check again though for cracked bits and see

Fuse box is your primary culprit.

Cruzerjd gets credit too! Of course this kind of notoriety is a sign of having been there and suffered through that.
