For Sale 1981 Yamaha Maxim 650

‎4 Sale 1981 Yamaha Maxim 650 I bought this 2 years ago with 20100 miles I put new tires and brakes front and rear, new plugs,airfilter changed all fluids. I put new clutch friction discs, steel plates and springs in it. I just put a new battery in it a month ago. I have title and current inspection and plates. Has 22852 miles on it now. Good Starter bike located in Nesquehoning PA. This Bike is 31 years old and runs Good still gets 40mpg and does have some minor issues. Neutral light does not work i do have a new switch for it but have not put it in. There is a small oil leak in left front of engine $900.00 if interested please have cash in hand to test drive. Case in point about inflated motorcycle prices in Austin... I sold mine for $1500 in 24 hours, and this one is so much nicer looking than mine, lower miles, and with a front fairing to boot.

Still good riding weather here in Austin, though. I guess that makes a big difference.

 

+1 on bad time of the year for sales (unless you are REAL motivated).
If the oil leak is from the valve cover gasket you should fix it before sale.

Jeeze, if I hadn't just bought a bike and then had to put $1500 into my truck, I'd be driving up there now! Good luck selling it.

It's a nice looking max, and the price is decent. I suspect the oil leak scares away casual buyers even though it's not a big deal. Plus this is the worst time of year to sell.

I realize it's frustrating as I've been trying to sell my SUV for 9months now. I started it at 12,799 and it's now at 10,499. Keep getting nibbles but no serious buyers (it hasn't even been looked at yet in person) and it's a fine SUV. In almost perfect condition well below book value, less miles than several sold nearby at dealerships for $$$$ more than I'm asking!! I'm chalking it up to gas prices and the particular market I'm in and the economy.

I would fix the leak and maybe note the good condition as a primary selling point. Keep your add simple and short-eventually it will sell.

you can buy the bike and part it out. i do not want to do that i think the bike is in good shape to do that. runs good and still get 40 mpg
