Just wanted to say Hello New Member here. I just bought a 82 maxim 750 and love it. Actually my new bride bought it for me as a wedding gift. Its my first bike and of course i already have a qustion: My speedometer is off by about 10-15mph. When the speedometer reads 35 i am acutaly doing almost 50mph. Is there an adjustment for this or does something need to be replaced. Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the site :).

Congratulations! And well done finding a lady with good taste in bikes!

Check the drive gears in the front hub to make sure there is no slipping which would give a slow reading. Make sure the cable is ok while you are there.

Calibrating a speedo is something best left to the experts, a hot rod/custom car or bike type place should be able to tell you who does them. Might be cheaper to get a new second hand unit.

But officer I WAS only doing 35! ;)

What Kiwi said. Plus chack wheel and tyre size to see if they are standard. PO might have fitted a different size wheel. Unlikely but worth checking.

This may be a silly question, but could it be you've got a metric scale and you're expecting miles? Or vice versa? 35MPH DOES = 56Km/h ?

Out of curiosity, how are you checking your speedo? Pace car? GPS?

But 35 Km/hr indicated speed on your speedo does not equal 55 MPH actual speed! Good point though.
