Spent a lot of time last year or so trying to get the bugs worked out of my little rd250. Pulled it all apart cleaned everything. Even compounded and polished the frame. Added some performance parts k&n y boot banshee cross over pipe chambers. After putting it all back together i noticed it had what sounded like an exhaust leak where the chamber hooks to the cyl. It would cut in and out from 5k and above tried all kinds of jetting still did not fix it. When i had the heads off for painting and to replace a leaky head gasket. I saw the guy i bought it from replaced the pistons with .50 over and re used the old head gsk. The base gasket has a chunk missing that is where my exhaust leak was. When i was trying to tune it it was dropping the cyl every time you put a load on it got to the point i could not even get it to climb my steep driveway.
I rounded up all the parts gsks cyls heads ect. Have to send them off for a bore job and some port work. Its going from 54mm bore to 65mm. Should be right about 360 cc. Going to be a quick revving bike the ratio from the crank to clutch hub is higher ratio then the 350. Hopefully i can gear it a bit different to make it less wheelie prone.
You will nod find a cleaner rd then this 73 it has 5075 original miles original paint except the motor. I have had this bike almost 3 years seems like every time i would start working on it i would have to have another operation on my ankle/foot (sucks getting old) but after 4 years i have no pain in my feet so i am ready to get started again. I am hoping to finish all 3 maxim x honda cm400 automatic and the rd this year.

I just picked up a RD250 frame. Can't wait to start getting parts for it. I love old Yammie 2 strokes. and yours is a prime example of history.

Should be fun when its done!
