    Hello everybody,
FNG from Miami here, been riding and wrenching for most of my life. Last month I came across a 1981 Seca 550 with only 10K on the odometer and had to get it (but honey, it followed me home, I swear) :D
Already on the bike: I installed a new gold chain and sprockets, new chain guard, all the turn signals and I'm waiting for a nice chrome VMax handlebar from Japan. In the near future, a respray with clear coat to keep things shiny for the next 30 years. :D
I love the amount of info on this site and it is always great to be a part of a community that keeps the old iron running.
    Best regards,
    Gaucho

We want pics! Have you checked your rear brakes for delamination? I have seen it happen on a few bikes I have worked on. I love the 550 Secas. I have owned a few. Welcome to the board. If you have questions, don't be afraid to ask.

We love our 550 Secas around here. Don't make me start posting pics of my '81... or my '83...

    Fairing, or was it removed?

    Stock exhaust?

CHECK THE VALVE CLEARANCES. And rebuild the brakes. Read this: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=15874.html

    And welcome aboard.

    Man,
I've tried to make the pictures smaller but the smallest is 65KB and still too big!
Bike came with the original fairing and a Kerker four into one.

    nice bike!

Check the brake line age as well as how old the tires are! brake lines had a 4 year life and tires, anything over 5 years is worth replacing.

For bigger/better pictures, upload them to a free photobucket account, and then post the code :)

    Welcome!!

Can't wait to get my 550 seca rolling!

Might want to replace the fusebox with a blade style as well to prevent strange electrical issues in the future.
