    Hi from London UK..

There's a few terms here I've come across like Seca and Maxim, We dont seem to have those here in the UK and the XJ900F which from what I've read was only sold stateside in 83..
So would i be correct in thinking this is mainly a stateside forum...

    Regards....

    Thanks for the Hi's..

There's some interesting threads, i just cant find the one i want, if it's even there so i posted and asked...
Things learned so far, Maxim is a factory custom styled XJ and a Seca is basically everything else

Pretty close. The Maxim is indeed the "factory Cruiser" variant; and generally speaking the "standard" XJs that were sold elsewhere were sold here as Secas.

That being said, a lot of our "Secas" were not identically equipped as their "standard" world-market XJ counterparts; our 550R's didn't have oil coolers or dual front discs; our 650 Seca didn't have an oil cooler, etc.

The only "Diversions" that came here were the 600s, sold here as the Seca II.

Was there something in particular you were looking for?

In addition to what Fitz, and others said---

For us, the 900 was only available for a short time in 1983. Ours is the xj900rk Seca. Once harley got the gov't to put a tariff on anything over 700 cc's none of them came in anymore (unless someone was really willing to pay ridiculous fees). It was available around the world for more years, going from the fork-mount fairing, to the frame-mount fairing, having the little brother of it available in Canada for a short time.....the xj750rl, then it became the xj900 Diversion which was in in existence for more years outside of the USA.

We also have a series of secas, some are named differently than what you might have......we have a 400, 550, 650, 750, 900......all have seca, some have maxim, models.........some are the same as yours, others have somethings different with the same name, and other have things the same with different names. WE'RE still sorting some if it out! Some of ours are turbo, some are not.............

A few us have come across some 650 NON-turbo secas lately.....myself included. It's a bike that was only available here for a year or so, and it's basically a european style 650 that 'fell off the ship', so to speak.

You keep watching, reading, and looking, and I bet you'll even come across some of the Japanese-market-only xj's, too!

This site is MOST DEFINITELY NOT a USA-only site. We are all over the world. Glad you found us, stay here, learn a lot, and we'll learn a lot from you, too!

Thanks for your post, stick around awhile!

    Dave

The XJ900 here started witht he same 853cc model with yoke mounted fairing and Anti dive forks that the US got, didn't last long one year then we got the 891 XJ900F much more stable at spead and practically bullet proof, and then the quite frankly ugly Diversion, 600 and 900 what would be called Seca ii Stateside, but you said you only got the 600, Usually called the Pre Divvy in the UK..
It seems like the states missed out on a solid machine, But this does explain why the XJ900F hardly gets a mention here as this forum is largely, Not entirely :p stateside and it seems Aussie....
We had all the other engine sizes as far as i can tell, but the XJ600 and 900 are by far the most seen od the XJ's...

By the time 1985 rolled around, the harley tariff had been removed. So....we got the bigger engines again.

The 1985 V-Max was the big Muscle bike w/ the V-Boost as part of the standard bike here. From the factory, it had 145hp.

I am SOOOOOOOlooking forward to finishing up a few other projects so I can start freshening up my '85 V-Max.............if I don't jump that one ahead of a few others....LOL

And elsewhere. There is a definite Ozzie and Kiwi presence, plus at least one guy form Poland and a recent poster from Pakistan.

    XJs are everywhere!

There's a few pre divvy 900's Knocking about, but most of them were despatched/couriered to death, Divvy 900's are quite common still though....

I want to put Divvy 900 wheels on the pre divvy 900...

So are they just hanging around; or do you or your next-door neighbor raise them to sell for meat?

I ask because there's an elk farm about 6 miles from here; and they do a steady business. Are those wild, or not-yet food?

those are wild and come and go as they please . They love rubbing the limbs of my beautiful trees .thats why when i put my horse on the pasture i use a portable pen and move it around . if i put up a real fence the elk just break it down . this way the deer , elk and horse can use pasture and no fence to fix

I get a bunch of deer on a regular basis but the elk just use the pasture as a place to winter and forage on the high nutrition grass . they are great mowers . its too hard to resize and put photos or i would share another photo of some huge bucks just feet from my deck tending my does this last season ... pretty cool to watch .
