So I've had my bike apart for a while, doing a bunch of maintenence over the winter, and today I was putting the bulk of it back together, and it went well until I found a drain hose coming out from the bottom of the battery holder underneath where the right side panel is. I can't seem to figure out where I unplugged it from! My manual isn't helping me either. perhaps someone could chime in with an answer to this silly question

Overflow/expansion tube from the battery itself maybe?

Just went and looked at both of mine and if it comes out of the box under the right side cover it can only be what trgrhappy said. There should also be a small steel bracket welded to the middle of a frame tube just above the centre stand, that's where the bottom of the rubber hose is routed. If you still can't figure it out I can take a couple of pics tomorrow.

    Look for a "T" between the #2 & #3 Carbs
There might be a Vent that terminates beneath the Battery Box.
If the Hoses ID fits that "T" ... hook it up.

If the Hose is a small diameter clear vinyl job ... Battery Vent

I know it's not the carb vents, so it must be the battery vent. I'm headed to my garage right now. I will post again if it's NOT the battery, but I'm sure it is. Thanks guys!

Nice, yeah I found the hole in the underside of the top of the battery it attaches to.
I refilled all the cells in my battery with distilled water, and when I hooked up the battery to the charger, it overflowed some of the water and acid out the tube onto the ground. Good thing I had the tube attached so it didn't get all over the bike...

    I'm not too sure if that's a Stock set-up.

The Hole at the Bottom of the Box is for a Anti-rattle Grommet and Fastener.
The Battery Tube should be an Exterior Hose.
That Hose and routing looks "Home-brewed"

Nope, absolutely stock Rick. Those pictures are taken off my 85 that I have owned since day one.
