There is coolant leaking from most of my hoses on my 86 Maxim X. Has anyone replaced theirs and if so what size hose did you use? These are not in circulation anymore so finding bike specific hoses has proven difficult thus far. Does anyone have a suggestion on a parts store that may have them?

I suppose you actually mean coolant hoses only or do you also mean coolant pipes? Then you would need new o-rings too.

Yeah just the rubber hoses. I read up on alternates and got to Silicone. Quite interesting. However I am not looking to invest that much money for a marginal decrease in coolant temperature.

WHERE exactly, on the hoses, are you having the leaks?

At the clamps, through the middles, etc.......

If it's at the ends, it may simply be that there is buildup on the inside of the hoses. Try pulling them off and cleaning them well.

If it's in the middle..........yup, time for new ones. If it's at the ends of the pipes, it's time for new o-rings.

The leaks were coming from the ends of the hoses. I spent 15 bucks on a rubber heater hose from Home depot and they work great. No leaks now.

Another solution that a list member came up with...........hopefully who-ever it was see's this forum and refreshes my memory----

There is an automotive radiator hose that has almost the perfect curves, if cut in half at a certain point, and both pieces are almost identical to what is needed.

I know you're all set with your's now, but like I said....hopefully the original finder of the other solution will chime in...

    Glad you found something!
