    Welcome Charly,

your pictures look awfully small, you may want to take bigger pictures, and upload the to flickr or similar service. Once you do that you only copy the address to the picture and people will be able to help you out.

    Congrats on the new bike.

    Welcome aboard Charly.

I could tell that was a CX500 by the Comstars and the cylinder poking out from under the gas tank.

    Love the 550 Seca's.

If you thought the little cx was a rocket. You have a very pleasant surprise in store. A well tuned 550 will deffinate make your eyes lite up when you get on the throttle.

Look at the 10th digit of the long VIN stamped into the neck of the frame. If it is a B=81, C=82 and D=83 model year.

I qould try to get the bike running stock, once you have tuned and running the way it should it may be easier to try the pods. I have read a lotor people frustrated because they cant get them to run right. I has been done before but it seems really tricky. I guess the key is work ok one variable at a time so running stock right may be the best starting point if you have a burning desire to go down that road.

    Good luck

It will be a lot easier getting your bike running properly if you replace the missing airbox. Running the bike with improperly jetted carbs can damage your motor. As for the shocks, stick with the stock size. You don't want to mess with the handling of the bike especially if you want to carve the back roads. These bikes handle great just as they are.

How do you put pods on these bikes? Easy.....here's how you do it.

    1. Take the stock airbox and put it back on (labor intensive)
    2. Take the pods and:
    a. return them for a refund in purchased new
    b. either put them on a shelf to collect dust, or throw away, if they're used

That's the best way to install pods.

You can put the stock airbox back in without unbolting the motor. It takes a little wiggling but it will go in. Just remove the carbs, manifolds and starter for more room.

Great choice on getting a stock airbox back on it, because the rubber tubes essentially are velocity stacks, and they help your bike perform its best with the Mikuni CV carbs.

If you're running the 4 into 1, you may have to fine tune the jets, but it's best to wait for warmer temps before doing so. And yes, I agree that it's smart to verify that the carb jetting is at the stock sizes, so you have the proper baseline to work off of.

BTW, you should add an inline fuel filter if it doesn't have one already.

I like the white on the tank. Sort of retro.

haha, well more retro than the bike itself. Welcome, I'm also a 550 Seca owner.
