So seeing as I am never happy with leaving this the way they are despite them working just fine I decided this winter to take the plunge and switch out my old xj650 gauges with a set i bought off ebay from an 2011? xjr1200. It has everything i am looking for in a cluster including a gas gauge. So far so good on the install everything seemes to be working the way it did with the old gauges now I just need to figure out the new features like gas gauge. Also how to mount the gauge seeing as bolts are slightly closer together on the gauge then on the tree so I need to offset them somehow. I tried to get led signals on the front but it didnt work despite rumours of seperate flasher lights fixing that problem. I havent decided whether to get resistors or bulb signals despite already having led signals for front. So any thoughts? questions? comments? advice?

You might look into the mounting bracket, and pilot light assembly for the XJ700, or XV700. The gauges are very similar, and will bolt to the XJ750 top crown.

SO fuel gauge is operational. Not sure what ohms the gauge are and if they match the sender but it looks about right from what fuel i have left. I guess we'll find out when the season starts. Thanks Ghost I went with a similar idea I dismantled the xj650 gauges i previously had which lined up perfectly and will use them once i make some simple mods.

So everything is all mounted but ive realised that the speedo cable is no longer long enough to reach the gauge cluster comfortably. Are there longer options out there? Are all speedo cables the same?

There are companies out there who will make a cable to your pattern +/- whatever length you want, if you find you're struggling at all

Bummer, you manage to get the end out OK?

Sorry I can't be more specific about who to go to with the cable, I'm in the UK so don't know who operates in your area. I use speedy cables, I'd bet money there'll be somebody more local but if not http://www.speedycables.com/page4.html
