Well I'm happy with today's small amount of work, got the bike running on all 4 & confirmed that I have an air leak due to the airbox rubbers being for 33mm carbs (I guess, since they seem a little too short to push all the way on & the clips only just pinch them when fully tightened).

It's a start & now that I know the engine's sound with no smoke now the oil put down the bores has cleared and no nasty noises, I'm more happy to spend the time pulling the carbs off again, making 125% sure they're clean still & switching them to the UK spec 750 jetting from my spare set, getting some proper airbox rubbers & new filter etc.

Even running lumpy the motor is lovely and responsive, the 4-2 pipes sound great for stockers and overall I'm very happy and wanna shout it from the rooftops!!! 8)

Isn't it just the greatest feeling to hear it run for the first time? Even if it runs poorly, at least it has a heart beat and you are encouraged to continue to put effort into the machine.

    Good luck!

THanks people, yeah it gives you a boost to go ahead and spend time and money that you wouldn't risk on something that could be a smokey old grotter. Well happy, going to try to be on the road for the 2 hours of good weather sometime in july we invariably get here in the UK haha
