I have a interesting question. Is it possible that this system can fail? and how can I check it? Currently it works randomly and stops when I hit bumps. when I looked at the assembly directly, when I moved it and would work and when it didn't there was noises coming from the box.

I recently had a problem with the blinkers intermittently working. They finally quit. I traced it back to bad solder joints on the turn signal switch. The Hot(center) had come off. So I pulled the switch out and the other 2 fell off. Got out the new fangled cold to touch soldering iron and soldered them back on. No more problems.

This by the way, was just after I replaced the fuse box...

as stated above....check and clean the switch first....also check every signal bulb and socket for bad connections and corrosion. there are some connections under the seat and behind the headlight that also need to be checked. if all this checks out then suspect the relay. it can fail....but its more likely to be a connection issue. i just had this issue a short time ago....ended up my relay was bad.......but check all else first..the relay unit isnt cheap as it contans several more components....such as the headlight relay.....i tore my old one apart hoping i could repair it.....the only relay exposed is the one for the headlight....everything else is completely covered in a soft rubber compound to protect from moisture.

im pretty shure the maxim x is the only xj that has this type relay box.

Well I've checked every wire going into the assembly last night and I still can figure out if it's a wire or the assembly. I've remounted the assembly more firmly to the frame to see if that will help. But I'm still at a lose at where the true problem is. :?

:!: Well good news, I've figured out the problem. Bad news is, it's going to be expensive to fix it. The Flasher Relay Assembly is bad. :( Oh well, I'm going to have to find a new/ used one. Anyone have any suggestions where to look.
