that looks like my windshield, its ok but the air flow hits right at bottom of my helmit and is annoying,I've tried moving it around a bit and havnt had much luck,if it was a couple inch's taller I think I would like it a lot more

coastie,I just went out and measured mine,it is the 15 1/2 tall one,it may work fine for you but I will probly get one a couple inch's taller some day,I sit up straight and close to the tank,(dirtbike habit) if I slide back on seat it isnt to bad,or if just cruseing its ok,but at 70-75 mph it pushes the air right in bottom of my helmit and is annoying,oh I'm not tall either I'm 5"8'

    Coastie,
I have this exact shield in clear and have experienced similar issues with it as old-grunt. The air hits me at about eye level but the main problem seems to be the air flow around the deflector buffeting my head around. I am inclined to think the shield is not wide enough to block the air.
I do want to sell mine if you're interested though.

I use a full face. My expectations of this shield may have been too high.
I was looking for a "highway" shield to block wind going 65-75mph.
It does the job up to that point then the wind starts to get too agressive for me. If you don't do alot of cruising at highway speeds then it might work for you.
The one I have is in good shape, only had it on the bike for about 3 rides then decided to take it off. The paint on the nut adjusters is scraped off a bit due to trying every conceivable angle adjustment.
I'll sell it for $30.00 plus the frt. Can send you pics of it if interested.

Well I'm 6' tall, wear a full-face, and I'm currently running with a Slipstreamer Spitfire:

It's pretty nice, though depending on prevailing winds occasionally I do get some helmet buffetting.

On the same page you'll also see their Cobra shield - I had that one before, and think I actually prefer it to this one.

coastie, I have an 85 XJ700N and have the same windshield as your looking at, it is a bit small for 70 + mph riding. It does keep the wind down for the most part.

We've had this discussion on another forum I belong to. There are over 3000 members, so the issue about wind buffeting comes up often.
It seems that just about an windshield has it limits as far as protection. There is a nasty updraft that comes up from under them that causes this annoying, head shaking, mustache-tickling-your-nose air flow. Some are worse than others, depending on the size, shape and position of the windshield. If you hold your hand out to block the updraft, you'll notice it comes up around the sides of the gas tank while you ride.
There are different ways to attack this issue. One is to install "lowers" on your forks which somewhat elliminate most of the updrafts. They are simply clear plastic deflectors that route the wind out of the way. I believe they are Memphis Shades brand. There are chrome ones also sold by National Cycle that look a little better and help elliminate the updrafts.
I have a pair of the clear plastic ones modifies to mount on the top of my crash bars on my other bikes and I now have a "dead air" space and can almost light a cigarette while riding. I never liked my eye glasses jumping around while riding and the bridge of my nose got kinda sore after an all day ride. This completely got rid of my problem.
So basically. the smaller the windshield, the less protection. You can experiment with the angle it is mounted and get better results sometimes too. >PD<
