Unlocking the Secrets of XJ Vins

Hi Guys
I was looking to buy the correct parts manual and owners manuals for my XJ900 and XJ750 but have to admit to being confused totally by the model codes.

The 750 Vin is 5N1000410.

The XJ900 starts 58M.

I was told they were both Australian delivered.

Looks like you have an 81 xj750 standard (A.K.A. Seca in the U.S.), and a 85 XJ900F

Wouldn't the difference between the '81 and '83 be the black paint on the engine (83) ??
