So, now I have the little CB-1 up and running and the salt-free roads are on their way I've decided to do something with my old daily once the MoT is up (since it's a ratty old hack and will need work to pass again, dodgy electrics/fork seals gone/tyres worn out/back brake getting low/shocks not doing a lot)

The thing is, WHAT do I do, I'm thinking either...

Repair what needs done for MoT and keep it rat as usual?

Repair everything & make it tidy? (not worth it so no chance!!)

Strip it down, hardtail & bob the thing in a pseudo-classic triumphesque style?

Strip, hardtail bob & keep ratty?

I know what my favourite plan is and will probably stick with it, but what's anyone else's idea & what suggestions for looks/modifications?

Think I might get a proper side-on shot on the mainstand & do a little photoshop later on to see what happens :D

Dump it on 'the bay' (not in it) & get something you will enjoy working on.
    Just my 2c.

Maybe in it would be more fun tho'

Yeah was thinking about it, but tbh it wouldn't make 50 quid & if it did it'd get me bad feedback, it's a real shitter but the engine's still OK & really I'd enjoy working on making a weird bobber out of it without destroying a perfectly good (and not so common over here) maxim or similar...

I'd load it with insurance and park it in Chatsworth somewhere near the Jockey Pub.

haha ^ :D just noticed the front tyres gone down now as well, it's sulking! I could torch it...

That's an interesting colour wizard... I had an Austin Allegro in a similar shade once lol. Just thought of another option, go a bit mad max & then I can use an old beer keg for an un-dented fuel tank ;)

Haha here it is, can tell how long that old donkey kicked on for by the modern cars in the background! Finally broke it up when the engine drank more oil than petrol (about 95,000miles on a 4spd A-series!) & it'd had MoT advisories on the front panel rust for 8 years running!

EDIT-: wish I had more photos, it evolved a bit after the pic with a 10" mountney steering wheel from a mini, stripped interior with 1 seat, a half leather & chequered flag pattern cloth monstrosity from a Porsche 911. Oh, and a carbon fibre Micron exhaust "silencer" lol :D

The list of things that are "wrong" with the Honda are still going to have to be fixed whether you mod it or not. You still need fork seals, tires, shocks and brakes; whether you decide to change the look or not.

All of the things you listed are pretty much "maintenance" items; things do wear out and need to be replaced.

Cleaning and "tidying up" will also go a long way toward solving your "dodgy electrics" I'll bet.

It looks to me like you've about neglected it into the ground.

Nah I bought it that way fitz, only thing I've done is fail to rectify the problems when they arose (worn tyres), the rest was already in need of doing but I needed a ride at the time.

I know most stuff would still need doing (apart from shocks, don't have them on a hardtail lol) but the bike's not really worth doing the repairs IMO since it's so tatty & battered (it's an ex riding school bike hence the rash, I don't drop bikes just get knocked off now & again!)

Only time I'd really be "inspired" to spend money on it would be if it got turned into something more interesting than the corrosion infested, dented, cracked & hacked old thing it would still be if I fixed it. The dodgy electrics are something to do with the hacked loom & old alarm.

Change of plan, minimum repairs & a quick tidy up of the corrosion & dents/cracks etc and then onto Ebay with it! Just "semi-accidentally" bought a spare engine for the 400 which I'm planning to rebuild to CBR+ spec... Ahh the joys of being an impulsive, indecisive sod!

spending my money on the CB-1 engine build now I think.... May keep this "on the side" if I don't need the cash but to be honest I think it's better made safe & sold to someone who wants a grey porridge bike for riding to work on, while I enjoy the "psychedelic porridge" of the little 'un :)
