When I got my (93) FJ1200 ... it had 24,000km's on it. Now it has 84,000.

Could almost laugh at the wrists comment except I'd imagine it's not really due to doing that :? What did you do to them, and have you seen the Velcro fitting supports you can get? They (I think) are for sprains but offer good support when riding too.

Looks a nice bike anyway, nice find.

the paperwork says 88, but it has the 90 colours and the add said 89, ,so 88 to 90 covers it, i think. it is a nice bike and rides and goes well, very quiet with the stock exhaust which i like, bloody wrists, i havent been to the doc yet,, no power, always aching , i can ride the maxim but nothing else as its to painfull, even took an old z650 out yesterday and it hurt, i will look into the support things,

Heli-Bars used to make a set of higher bars for that bike. They may still have a set or two in stock.

Beautiful bike!!! And the wrist, ice it when you are sitting around having a few pints!! Really, had my left wrist operated on for carpel tunnel still have numbness in my thumb. So when my right wrist got bad, it was way worse then my left, I just started icing it a used a wrist guard to immobilize it at night, and when I didn't need to use it, so that it wouldn't bend and cause more problems. Worked like a charm and I do not have anymore problems with it.

here it is with its new belly pan, all done for now, upgraded the clutch ,no more slipping, done a bit under 2000 k's in the last month now its registered and the poor old xj just sits with the others although i take it for a 10 k ride every week to keep the oil moving around, the difference between the 650 and the 1200 is staggering,

thanks jmilliken, one thing ive found is the bars buzz alot and my right hand goes numb after 1/2 an hour, am learning to minimize this, my grip puppies are due to arrive soon, this is the only thing that distracts abit from this bike at the moment so really not that big a deal, it really eats up the miles. also knowing that in any gear you can pull away with the speed of a 1000 startled gazelles is reassuring at times.

For the buzzing, Randy at rpmracingca.com sells some 'vibranators', tuned handlebar end weights that cancel out the vibration frequencies from the engine at the handlebars. Definitely worth it in your case I think, he had them commissioned himself, so no one else sells them.

gday fintip, i borrowed a set from a friend down the rode and although they helped a bit they didnt do enough to warrant the price, not yet anyway, the grip puppies are going on soon so i will see how they go, ive been told you can get a throttle lock so you can take your hand off the throttle and stretch it every 10 minutes or so, i did a 400k ride last week and am finding it it easier all the time, around town it doesnt worry me because your stopping all the time.
