    Hi all in the XJ world. I've just joined the site, and it seems like it might be a handy place to visit. I have reacquired an '82 XJ750K (I think) that I rode for a few years before excessive oil use made me park it up.

    It was given to a friend to rebuild in her spare time ... but she didn't have any. (nor a place to do it or money to pay for it) So .. I pick it up again in a few days. It has been dismantled so I pick it up in my car.

    Being my own bike when it was running ... I am familiar with all it's issues. It DID run, and apart from high oil usage ... ran fine. The clutch WILL need attention, but that is not a big issue as I'm familiar with them.

    I have seen the engine recently ... and the bores still look good, and a hone has already been done. I think mileage was about 60,000 km's so I don't think excessive. (even for an old 750) The oil rings on the pistons were shot ... hence high oil usage.

    The end result of the rebuild is a Cafe Racer ... a weekend ride more than anything else. My current ride is a '93 FJ1200 which does the touring very nicely. I also own an XJ750D fuel injected model ... which has been lent to a friend to use. It also has a few issues that need sorted soon. But I'm sure this site may be of great help in sorting them out.

    hey FJrider,

    Welcome to the forum. We have similar tastes in the Yamahas eh?
    I can imagine the nice riding available there in New Z. NICE pic of the 93 ! That 'local back road' would be breathtaking!!

    The xj will be good to ya when you are done with her!!!
