    Hello guys,

I am new here and have already contacted Chacal regarding these boots. Unfortunately I cannot afford the $250 that he sells them for.Does anyone have a decent used set that they could sell me? I'm overhauling a 82 maxim xj650j.Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have any to sell ya but I have a small bit of advice.

1: Post this in the correct forum section - the "Sell, Trade, Swap, Wanted" section.

2: use the search function, try stuff like "carb boots" or "xj650" in the sell/trade/wanted section, look for somebody parting out a 650.

But... Are you sure you need new ones? Often the outside looks cracked but the cracks do not go all the way through to the inside.

+1 on checking to see if they go through. If so check ebay twice a day eventually a set will pop up that's decent if you can't find any through anyone here. Your bike has a yics engine?

+2 on the checking if the cracks go through, and another +1 on making sure if you do have to replace them, that you get the correct type (YICS or non-YICS) since your motor is on the cusp of when they changed over...

There was a set on Ebay the other day for $150 IIRC but do make sure they're right first. That's the thing about buying from a member or XJ4Ever, we take care of our own whereas a lot of Ebayers won't care as long as they get paid...

Welcome by the way, you'll like it here :)

Thx guys! Sorry for posting in the "wrong" thread. Could this be moved for me to the correct thread?
And yes, my 82 xj650j is a YICS.

EDIT-: wopps, deleted my post by accident! here it is!!!

It's no problem, this thread should be fine as it contains useful info on getting the correct part :)

You can just post a new wanted thread in here http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewforum/f=8.html making sure to state that you want the YICS ones.

Maybe worth trawling through a couple of the part-out threads in case somebody has them.

Also as yours is the YICS type I believe the 750 rubbers are the same (don't buy 750 ones until a wizard confirms/squashes this statement though!)

EDIT-: Also as a new member a couple of words of advice, firstly if you put the model, year and other details of your bike in your signature line it makes things easier for you (no having to repeat) and us (no having to ask).

Plus, do please read the linked threads in my signature regarding drum brake issues, tyre codes & brake hoses before you ride the bike. We want you to stay alive as well as the bike! :)
