I was wondering if anyone knows if I can swap body parts from an XJ700 on put them on my XJ750 with out modifing anything?

I want to put on the rear, front fender, battery covers, main seat and passenger seat from an XJ700 and mount them on My XJ750. I was wondering if I can just put on the parts with out any modifications or are the parts different enough that they will not fit on my XJ750.

I prefer the look of the rear and front fender from the XJ700 and I would really like to add those parts on my bike, give it a more modern and sharper look to it as oppose to the one piece driver and passenger seat and the back fender only exposed on the bottom where the brake and signals lights are.

If the parts are universal to both bikes and there are riders who see my post and live in Ontario Canada in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) who have parts to get rid of or sell let me know.

I look forward to everyones comments and advice.

    Cheers!

The side cover, and single disc brake on your bike identify it as being an XJ650 Maxim. Double check your vIN to verify.

In that case. Very little if any parts off the XJ700 will mount to the 650 without some kind of modification work.

The pic you uploaded is a 650 maxim, the 750 is similar, but the side covers and the seat are different. What you're showing is the up-to-'83 look. In the top picture you show an 85/86 style xj700 airhead. Very little will interchange. It was a complete restyling, and it share a LOT in common with the Virago 70/1000/1100, but not the earlier 650/750 Maxim style.

yeah the pic s not of my bike, I can't up load them because the pixels and kbs are too large, that was just the most simalir pic of a bike I could find that met the dimensions. So in order to get my 84 XJ750 to llok like this 85 XJ700 is to chop it all up and sink some dough into it?

Hold on.... If you have an 84 750, is it the canada-only xj750rl? If so, DON'T cut. Those are very rare. Is it an xj750 maxim? Same issue as before then.... Totally different animal. If you want the 85/86 look, go get an 85/86.

Ohhhh wow yes, don't chop up an RL! 8O

If you find out exactly what bike you have (using the chassis number) and add it to your signature it will help people a lot :)

If you do end up messing with it, give me your carbs please! lol
