The two white/red wires look to be for the battery level sensor. Also you should have a blue wire for the lighting ...

Really a wiring diagram for work like this is a must.

Maybe this will help. Or look in the back of a manual.

The minimum wiring diagram shown above is a "new-build" loom that doesn't incorporate any of the safety/computer features, but is nice and simple to follow if you make one like that (as long as you don't miss the grey wire between the pickup coils & TCI unit!).

On the XJ750J loom (1982 maxim), one of the red/whites could be done away with (the one from the battery sensor) but you'd need to connect the other one (to the computer) to your ignition "on" +12v supply, otherwise you'd have a constant warning for low battery acid...

I take it you do have the blue wire as well then, and you just missed putting it in the original post? Yes you'd need that to be connected to your ignition "on" +12v for the lights to work.

Just wanted to say that the schematic came from another thread, I used it to check my engine after I rebuilt it. I'll use it again for final wiring when I reassemble everything. It's for bobbers and choppers and like it says, "A minimal wiring diagram."
