Wet checked my floats today after the dry set a while back. Fuel sits at 4.5mm acrost the board. I was surprised. Is it worth messing with em for that .5? I've ran the bike n she screams. Only thing im worried about is it Runnin hot. Hasn't done it yet but its been pretty cool out. Ideas while the rack is off?

IIRC there's .5mm tolerance either way given in the specs so you're at the end of tolerance but just within.

I'd say ideally you want them to be exact, so if they're off the bike try and get them done, but if they're fitted & the bike's not running lean then .5mm isn't going to be a huge issue as it's just within spec.

    I thought the spec for the Hitachi 32 was 3mm + or - 1mm?

Actually, you're out of specs by 0,5 mm. If you worry about your egine running too hot, you should check the color of your spark plugs. If they are on the white side, you should reset your floats properly.

I would do the chop test, though, because your carbs are more likely to get starved at mid to hi range than at idle. Go to a safe place you could cut the engine at mid range and read the plugs color (wear thick leather gloves).

Right I obviously didn't read the original post properly to notice the 4.5 then, you're really meaning should you bother for that 1.5, yes you should because as quebecois said, you're 0.5mm outside spec! 8O

The manual I was looking at (Haynes) gave a tolerance of +/- 0.5mm.
