I'm looking at getting a wreckers motor for my 1982 750 Seca due to the no compression issue in my other thread. The parts guy thinks he has one and he's going to pull it out and have a look for me. However I was wondering if there were any ID marks that I could look for that would distinguish the 750cc motor from the others (650 etc).

    -thanks

If you look at the bottom of the barrels where they join to the case, front centre, there should be the capacity cast into them there. (check on your other engine first so you can find it easily).

Is this the one with the suspected timing issues & bent valves? (my memory's going lol)

EDIT-: yup my memory's not too bad after all :D did you pull the head & find nasty stuff then?

I haven't pulled the head yet, but I will (even to just satisfy my curiosity). But I was adding some numbers up in my head, and since the head gasket (or gasket kit) is ruffly $100 on its own. If I can get a good motor for less than $200 I'll be better off. I will most definitely post pictures of what I find in the old one though.

    P.S. thanks for the info.

As a side note, will the other seca motors bolt up if I'm unable to find a 750?
