Thanks for all the advice, here... you've already helped me improve my recently acquired '82 XJ650!

I "got out of riding" last summer. But then found myself going ga-ga over vintage bikes all winter... something nostalgic & wonderful about them. I look forward to getting back to my favorite back roads in the Finger Lakes region.

    Thanks a lot!

Obviously we're biased, but the standards from the 80's seem so much more fun than a lot of the modern bikes. Maybe it is nostalgia, but that doesn't deny the fun!

Congrats on a great bike and welcome to the addiction.

Most of the bikes I own rolled out of the factory about the year that I did (I was born in '81), so I'm not sure if nostalgia plays any part of it for me.

As far as keeping up with modern bikes, my XJ9 can pace any modern fuel injected 600. I know this because I used to drive a Daytona 600 and I still have that 0-60mph in <4 seconds.

Again, congrats on the purchase. If you treat it right, it won't let you down.

Ride down Rt. 64 and turn left at 5&20. Canandaigua's ok, Geneva's dreary, Waterloo is suprisingly nice. There's a great Mexican restaurant (? name) on the west side of town. Look for the balloons, decent selection of tequila's also. Then Seneca Falls, Auburn. Skineateles, etc.
I moved from Rochester to Syracuse last year. Doin' the Route 20 ride is sweet. The Finger Lakes are spectacular. I don't think that we (who live here) give it enough credit.

You're right - Western NY has its moments!

Are you referring to Salena's Mexican? It's almost Cinco de Mayo!

Nope. I'm not a Salena's fan. I'm referring to La Fiesta Brava Mexican Rest. , 9 E. Main St. in Waterloo. I was doing the Rte. 20 the other day. Had dinner for one, (a pork dish, the sides were great) and a shot of Hornitos, with a generous tip for $22. Place was busy, service was prompt.
