I have a set of the shorty, 17" reverse cone mufflers on the way soon. The pics are nabbed from ebay, but they're the same mufflers.

One common complaint about these mufflers is that they're loud. It looks like the end cap is removable. Has anyone tried wrapping the baffle with fiberglass muffler wrap or packing to muffle the sound a bit? Not wanting to choke 'em or completely silence them, but I was wondering if a little muffler packing would mellow the sound a bit?

What're you going to be putting them on?

Generally speaking, I'd install them first, then decide if they need to be toned down.

They'll be going on my '87 Radian project. Stock headers/collector and these mufflers.

My first 900 had a Kerker exhaust, 4-to-1, and before the "wadding" part, there was a "funnel" venturi with an inside diameter the size of my thumb. This reflects alot of the sound energy back upstream, and still passes enough exhaust to make 100 HP. (no drilled crank, LOL !)
