So I went to change my front wheel bearings on my '85 XJ700 today and believe I may have installed the spacer flange on the wrong side. The spacer also wouldn't stay in it and is now floating inside the wheel which I assume should not happen.

Does the spacer flange go on the side with the speedo gear or on the right side?

Trying to get this fixed before I go on vacation in 12 days... AHH!

I appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Although now it occurs to me that maybe it's floating because one of the bearings may not be pushed in all the way?

Bingo, the spacer should be held in place by the bearings. If it can float and you put it together like that, you will trash the new bearings very quickly.
