The locking mechanism on mine just doesn't have a good feel to it. I have a concern that one day it will quit working in the locked position. That and my keys are pretty worn and blanks seem hard to find. Was wondering if anyone ever converted to an old style non-locking cap. Not necessarily this one but any conversion at all. I really don't have a need for a locking cap.

Like he said. Blanks should be readily available.

As for the locking mechanism, you might try pulling it apart and giving it a good clean and lube. Try this file on for size.

Blanks are easy to find on ebay, just gotta get the right letter from the key code.

I had NO problems getting keys made. I went to a locksmith and they had the correct blanks

my local yamaha dealer had them all in stock when i went to get extras made. I have never seen a non locking cap conversion but you would probably have to do major surgery to get one on.

Thanks. I must have stopped in at the wrong dealer years ago and they gave me bad info.
