    Hi gang,
Just back from a flu virus.. What a killer. Two weeks flat on me back. Never under estimate the power of a flu virus.
Anyways on the mend now and changed me oil again to flush out any gas. Starter clutch seems to be settling down too. So all good.
Only thing is..the magnetic tip on the oil plug was hand loose so I put the plug back in without it. I was afraid it could come loose and circulate with the oil. Have one ordered on eBay but I assume it cant really do any harm in the meanwhile.?
    Thanks all,
    Morg

Shouldn't be a problem for a short while unless you have a greater issue. I personally wouldn't worry about it coming loose or floating away, but it's better to either jbweld or replace. I've never heard of one getting away, but I'm sure it's happened before.

Your not going to kill anything by not having the magnet in place.

The purpose of the magnet is to trap any metal particles... I wouldn't leave it out permanently, but i dont think leaving the magnet out for a bit is going to be much of a problem...

The magnet would continuously attract itself to the drainplug - even if loose. It won't get away.

Clear more metal from your oil by placing 2 small magnets on your oil filter (metal end cap).

Metal particles are not just rock-shaped chunks, but pencil-shaped slivers that can go thru a filter and wear away aluminum.

More sophisticated engines run a 1 Micron filter in addition to the 25 Micron regular filter to keep the oil as clean as possible. Old VW motors only had a screen !

You can get a new plug with the magnet on it an any parts store instead of waiting for ebay shipping.
