I lost the only original key for my maxim while on a garbage pick up in a nearby nature preserve :(

Being right near a college campus, I'm sure someone just picked it up for the keychain, just a little blue motorcycle.

Now all I have left is my lame spare :(

Stupid me Diddnt even write down the key code anywhere, damnit.

I believe it was an "a" blank iirc though.

Maybe ill find some nos key blanks somewhere :/

Ill stop by the yammie dealer this weekend.

    Here's my spare-

that curtis key should have a number imprinted in it that you can use to find your blank type. Your code should also be on the bottom of your switch. you can find keys similar to original (not sure if they are identical but close) without too much trouble.
My spares are the same as yours big metal heads :/

Stock 550 Seca cluster retrofit with an NOS speedo from an XJ900. ($20 off eBay thank you mis-listings!!!) Repainted all needles to match. (Formotion brand motorcycle-intended clock.)

Forum protocol tip: when you quote somebody's post like mine with a fat pic in it, knock out the "[img/img]" code so you don't re-post the image just the text of what was said.

I love knowing how fast I'm going.

Fitz your plastic is pristine!! Is that due to NOS newness and a lack of sun exposure or do you have a secret potion?? Nice 'water bearer' key chain also.

I too suffer with one original key (ignition) at least, and a knock-off for the gas, box, and helmet lock. :-(

I have one original key with each seca . I ordered 4 blanks online because the local feed and key store (here in the country ) did not have the blank . I made 2 for each bike and them put the two factory keys in my safe and use only the replacements . They work great and the factory ones will never get lost !

meh, whats the point of having the factory key if you never use it?

    Thats my thinking at least.

I usually have my spare on my regular key ring, and then had the original key alone and on a separate keychain that i would use most of the time.

I'm going to try retracing my steps again tomorrow, just in case.

(first three pics i snagged from the ebay listing as i forgot to take a pic of the cluster before i took it all apart)

Fitz, mind explaining what you had in mind for re-engineering the trip odo reset? Or will it be easy to see once i pull the stock 550 gauges out of the 'can'? I'd love to do that right off the bat.

Its going to take some spacers and thinking to fit the electronic tach, but it should be sweet when done.

Going to repaint the needles as well, and *maybe* use a marker of some sort to move the redline back to 10k. or i'll just leave it, my dad will never bring it even near there, and i'll know better, so meh, haha.

Going to be nice to have some color back in the gauges, I'll do something about the fuel gauge and VM when the opportunity presents itself.
