How hard should it be to move the clutch push lever, above the rear brake pedal, by hand?

It is pretty hard...you are talking about the lever where the clutch cable connects, right? I had to use a pair of vice grips to get it to move up. Are you trying to remove the cover? :?

First place to start is lubing the cable. WD40 works great for this. Losen cable at the handle and remove from the lever. Lube and work back and forth. Put a rag down below by the lever on the case. Rust and yuckies may come out. Lube an work back and forth unto clean wd40 comes out of the bottom. Go ahead and keep the rag under the lower part of the cable. It will continue to drip. Reinstall upper cable to the clutch lever and let sit so oil can work its way out the bottom.
If that is not it. Check the routing of the cable. No tight turns

On my bike, you can hardly move it by hand. I usually put a wrench on it to loosen the cable off.

Did you have your clutch apart recently? Reassembly errors can cause the stiffness you are describing.

You should not be able to move the clutch lever easily by hand on the engine. If you can, you've got problems. It should be quite stiff, I use a pair of pliers to leverage it when I need to pull the clutch cable off and am feeling lazy.
