Just bought a 1983 Maxim XJ650. New to riding.

Just saying Hi. I'm in Bridgewater, Vermont now. Bought a fully working 83 xj650 but i'm very new to motorcycles. Been practicing in my driveway a bit. I want to fix up a few things: Planning on upgrading fuse box, adding inline fuel filter, will be checking the rear brake drum soon, also looking at stainless steel brake lines, i've seen the galfer ones on ebay for about $90 and was wondering if thats everything i'll need in one kit? If anyone has a good tutorial on changing the brake lines or checking the rear drum that would be awesome. Do I need any special tools? or is it pretty straight forward in taking things apart. Is there anything else I should be checking? The bike has been running and ridden recently, starts up very well.

here are links to the haynes and factory manual for your bike. it's a good idea to go through the maintenance section and do/check on everything listed so you know it has been done as a base line for continued maintenance. Galfer kits generally come with everything you need new bolt, crush washers, and the lines themselves.
