Hi all! First time with dealing with reducing my chain and I am encountering a problem and would appreciate some guidance.
I replaced my rear and drive sprocket and went to install new chain, problem is the one I was sold is too long even after seller told me it was correct length. So I got a chain breaker and tried removing a couple links. Problem is the pins are not coming out and the gizmo is spreading apart the plates. I had no issue on the old chain when trying it out. Is it a simple matter of grinding down the rivets on the new chain?
Thanks to anyone who can lend some advice!

Yep. File or grind away the "staked over" part.

Can you post a picture ? If I use mine correctly it will either push the pin out or not, but it can't spread the side plates when the chain is in place.
