Quick question: my rear brake shoes on my Seca XJ550 are coded with: 03 C 10. I read that as probably a date of manufacture of 3rd month, 2010. Think I'm right?

They are Vesrah TSK-101 brake shoes. I did email the company to ask, but I won't hold my breath on a reply.

The main thing is, they're not the original parts. Vesrah is currrently making brake shoes; so if the linings are still tightly glued to the backing plates (dig at a corner with a dull box knife blade) then they may actually be OK.

Your date code could also be "10th month of 2003."

Like Fitz said; if the linings look good, you're probably fine. That said, pads are quite cheap. Little money for some peace of mind..

20$ Is cheap insurance, but that's just me. They're more than likely okay, but I just like knowing the history behind what's stopping my bike from killing me

All up to you i wouldn't worry about them to much since they have been replaced. But if you want to be sure thats cheap. I remember the days when you could get riveted. Don't believe you can even get car ones anymore possibly special orders. All the big trucks are that way don't think the glue holds up to 13 inches and up shoes.
