Brake rotor compatibility

    So I'm looking at some rotors on eBay because mine is warped too much to be safe, and I'm wondering, what fits a '81 seca 750? Would an '83 maxim 750 disc from the same side? What else might? And trust me, I've already perused the forums for quite a while. Good weather is passing me by every day! Thanks in advance!

    What do you mean, "from the same side?" You're replacing them as a pair, right?

    the right side was warped and just warped. wear was not excessive on either. I'll be replacing both pads (done) but just the warped rotor.

    You have to replace BOTH. They will not be the same thickness if you don't and will have major problems.

    I believe that Seca and Maxim rotors are not interchangeable. There is a dimension called offset; it's the distance between the rotor surface and the mounting flange where the disk bolts to the wheel. I'm not sure, but I think Seca and Maxim rotors have different offsets.

    An interesting comment - why do you think that discs of differing thicknesses would cause a problem ? Hydraulic brakes are self adjusting and should have no difficulty coping.
