I want to put longer forks on my 83 xj750 maxim, but not sure where to look to find done longer ones. They have stick length them now. Anyone got any websites that could help me out?

You don't say where abouts you are but try this company in England. Scroll down and you will see a .pdf and a .doc catalogue.
Choose which catalogue is right for your computer and in it you will find a list of all bikes measurements for the forks.
They can even manufacture to your spec. HTH.

Not sure how much longer you want to go but the forks from a maxim x are about 4 inches longer than those on your maxim. However I think you'd have to use the triple tree as well because the forks are bigger in diameter. Not sure how the extra length would affect the geometry or handling tho.

Just throwing in a set of longer forks will mess up the rake, and trail steering geometery, and make the bike hard to handle at slow speeds (The wheel will want to fall to the side causing the steering to wobble).

To give the bike that stretched, and raked chopper look you will need to use a properly designed raked triple tree, and/or custom fab work done to the frame steering neck.

The virago kit from AME Choppers is a bolt in kit that handles all the necessary details without modifying the frame.

I would've used one of these kits if I could afford it. My brother put one on his Harley and it looks/works great.
