    Get it re-chromed.
    That's hard chroming not ornamental chroming.
    Or buy a new caliper repair kit with the piston included.
    I'm sure there are ways to apply certain types of bonding, but i wouldn't recommend it where life is at risk.

    XJForever had a new caliper piston for my XJ550 for just $25. I thought that was cheap.

    There's no practical way to repair one;

    however; whether or not it can be re-used depends on where it's pitted. If the pitting is "outside" the area swept by the seals, it's still serviceable.

    If not, just replace it.

    I bought a replacement stainless piston. They are cheap enough to make repair impractical.

    Drop it in place in a "naked" (no seals) caliper and see if the pitting is in line with where the seal would be or outside of it.

    No kidding. Nobody said anything about going to a DEALER.

    That's an idea you might want to just scratch off the list.

    I agree with this statement too, and I know that it is slightly off topic. I just got excited about participating and contributing again.
