    so i went to go buy a maxim last night, and was told it was a 650 in the ad but its not so i now have a mostly complete 550 for sale. 500 or b/o. engine is complete; seat, tank, gauges, headlight, fenders are missing. was a good runner, apparently and just 2 owners, clean title as well

    I'm not interested unless you were closer to Ohio, but honestly we learn from our mistakes. Next time before anyone goes to buy a motorcycle its important to double check the engine size. All engine blocks have the size "stamped" on it somewhere if I'm correct

    The DRIVE CHAIN didn't give it away?

    (Displacement is cast into the cylinder block in the very front.)

    oh, i knew it was a 550 as soon as i saw it, i drove 2 hours and paid all this money to get there so kinda felt obligated. i saw the chain and was like, yeah, this aint what you said it was. just didnt want to have wasted my friends time, nor mine and assumed i still could unload it closer to the city anyways but i wanted to get what i needed by this wknd, so thats the real issue

    Buying another one is either: cheating;

    or a symptom that you've been "bit"

    Sooo...

    its (unfortunately?) the latter. ive become oddly attached to the maxims for some reason. ive gotten to know mine so well (still getting to know it, lots to learn!) that im really not interested in learning an entire new format.

    sure, there are all kinds of quirks with these bikes, but idk, its like that old saying, its the journey not the destination....or something. but i probably just say that because i have invested so much time and energy into it so who knows...but alas, the fleet grows

    i had somebody tell me the other day that "it will never be a show bike so who gives a sh*t about (whatever area we were talking, i think gauges)" and after that i had become almost obsessed with proving him wrong. so we'll see...

    i mean, he was probably right but that really hasnt deterred me in the slightest. obviously
