So, hello everyone, Im New here and picking up this bike on friday! questions I have already: what specific model is it, the owner only knows its an xj650 is there a more specific model code for it? also whats it worth? body is pretty damaged, it fires fine but runs a little rich, im assuming its just some carb gunk as its been sitting awhile. Ill be sharing my plans for this bike later though  but it will be my 4th bike and 2nd full out build

You have two different versions of the XJ650. one is a Maxim and the other is a Seca.

If I had to guess, that looks like an '82 XJ650RJ Seca. It's an American model. No oil cooler. Appears to be Non-Yics.

Marvelous bike. Looks like the side cover is missing on the visible side. They show up on eBay from time to time.

Running rich could be a carb gunk issue. I would think it's more likely that it just needs to be adjusted (synched, colortuned).

I would think that a really, nice one of these might bring $1500. It drops off pretty steeply after that. Miles? Anything broken? What else is missing?

Best of luck with it! It can be a great bike.

    Yup - I'm agreeing with G - looks like a ratted-out 82 Seca to me.

Looks like an early 650 Seca to me. Post the first part of your VIN Psycho, first 10 digits ought to do. We'll get a definitive answer for you.

Don't put too much on the plate, you'll end up like me. Broke and no space in the garage to do anything.

No, Seca were either Silver or Red. Never black.
