I have an 83 xj750 midmax all stock at the moment. Found some 06 650 Vstar exhaust and modified the mufflers to fit on my XJ. Now my problem I'm having is one guy tell me I need to rejet my carbs and another says if it's stock vstar mufflers, which it is, I should be fine with stock jets. Any advice?

If you still have the stock airbox and exhaust collector then you should be fine.

Never mind I googled it and I believe that's just before the muffler where the headers connect before the muffler?

Correct. Headers bolt in one side, mufflers bolt on the other.
