    I live in the mid west and we had a storm come in and knocked my bike over I have an 82 xJ 650 I got it running again but when I go to put it in gear it kills it I have checked the clutch cable and its good I thought maybe somethin to do with the safty on the side stand any ideas would be awesome please and thanks

    Side-stand safety would be the #1 thing to check - that is its function (to kill the motor if put in gear with stand down).

    It dies when the side stand is up and u put it in gear

    Check the sidestand switch underneath, the retracting pin could be bent or stuck in place.
