81 XJ650 Handlebars

I have a 1981 maxim 650 that I recently bought as my first bike and I'm loving it but the stock bars are too cramped for me. I was wondering if anyone could show me some dragbars that would fit onto my bike? I was also hoping someone might have a clue as to where I could track down some highway pegs that would fit my bike?

Any 7/8th's bar will fit on your bike. As for the highway pegs google "motorcycle junkyard *your city's name*". If you are lucky enough to have one of those close by there isn't much you can't find.

If you already have the "highwaybars/saftybars" you can get new pegs from JCWhitney.com, Bikebandit.com or J&PCycles .com. They also have Bikemaster brand bars, but you'll have difficultly find dragbars that will work since the bar holders are molded into the top tree. You would need to change the top tree with one from a Virago or XJ that doesn't have the molded in holders(can't think of the correct term at the moment).

 

I don't have the highway bar on my bike. Any ideas where I can track one down?

 

I have the crash-bars with highway pegs on them for sale but I think shipping to IL would be too expensive

 

Any chance you could find out how much? and how much are you asking for them?

 

I got my drag bars from lowbrow customs for like 20 bucks ans they bolted right on where the old ones did.

 

You can look on ebay, salvage yard, someone here or get some universal ones.

 

any chance you could post a pic? just trying to see what they look like before i buy some. I was also looking at some European style bars.

Yes the 82 will fit onto the 81 as well. I just found a pair on eBay that I ordered a day or two ago. Out of curiosity, how much are you asking for them? :?
