Just bought a '91 XJ600. Nice bike, runs very well, but the throttle is very heavy. It returns well so I don't think there's a problem with the cable or the grip so it must be the throttle return spring.

Before I start ripping things to pieces, can anyone tell me if the throttle return spring is adjustable?

    There isn't just one.

There are throttle return springs on each individual carburetor's linkage; they work together.

Nope. I'd start by lubricating the cable and ensuring it's routed "gracefully" then maybe pop the throttle barrel off the handlebar and clean/lube that plus the throttle assembly (at the bar) itself.

Yeah, gonna do that anyway. Just waiting for the cable oiler to arrive in the post. Not sure what route the cable should take - I've come across that situation before - can't remember which bike. Got a Haynes manual on order as well - hopefully that'll show it.
