Headlight bulb

    Looks like one of the p.o. converted the seal beam to an H4. The bulb is a Philips 12342 80/55w. Does anybody know where I can find a conversion chart to Sylvania or other manufactures as finding the Philips brand around here has been fruitless. I don't ride at night, so a 60/55w seems more practical.

    Any good-quality H4, 60/55W should drop right in. Just Google "H4, 60/55W" and you'll get lots of choices.

    BEST choice would be an anti-vibratory bulb such as the PIAA 70456.

    I don't think so. The original sealed beam headlight had been removed and replaced with a Bosch H4 light with a plug adapter. A sealed beam is exactly what it is, a sealed bulb with no way to exchange the lighting filament. Unless somebody has replaced the original equipment, then the answer would be no...

    AFTER you convert it to a modular type lamp, sure. As above, the original is a sealed beam; retrofitting with an H4 kit is a worthwhile upgrade. The conversion is "plug-n-play" as long as your electrical system is in tip-top shape. I've got H4s in all of my XJs (the 650R came with one though.)

    XJ4Ever carries a Hella Euro motorcycle-spec unit that is quite a noticeable improvement over stock. Highly recommended.
