My bike's PO installed LED turn signals on the front and smaller bulbs in the rear with resistors wired in line with each.
When I recently re-wired the bike, I switched the rear to LEDs, removed all resistors, and replaced the factory flasher and auto-cancel with a two prong electronic flasher.

The issue I am having is that when I signal, front and rear will flash but the light in the guage cluster doesn't light up at all. If I unplug one of the signals the light in the cluster works like it is supposed to.

Do I need to replace the light in the cluster with an LED to have everything work at the same time?

I should mention that the light in the cluster is wired in series before the turn signal switch. Would wiring it parallel instead change anything?

I'd like some thoughts before cutting open my newly made harness.

It could be possible that the flasher gives just enough juice to light the Leds but not the bulb, whats the output of the flasher?

It's possible a stronger rated flasher could light the bulb as well.
But it's not that big of a hassle to change the bulb to a led either so..

Here is a link to the flasher I am using.

I don't think the flasher is my problem.

I can't help you then, I installed a LED dashboard when installed my new led signals and new relay, only thing I noticed with my setup is that The leds on the dash never shuts off entirely between blinks.

@DaveT174 Only thing I can think of is that particular electronic flasher only sees the very small amperage draw of the LEDs (since it says variable load) and looks at the bulb filament in the instrument panel bulbs as regular "wire" due to the very light load. Did you make sure that the ground wire has a good ground? Other option would be to try switching to LED instrument panel bulbs or try possibly using a different flasher? There are similar electronic flashers available at most automotive stores that are not variable load types. These ones do not use a ground wire and still depend on around a half watt draw to trigger properly and would work great with your stock bulbs in the instrument panel(those are around 3 watts and 6.5 ohm resistance).

@broberg I had the same issue, you could just barely see the LED in the instrument panel pulse but never go out. I put a 56ohm 1/2 watt resister across the positive and negative on the plug and then the flasher worked just fine with the instrument panel bulbs blinking(they also had a pretty nifty fade out between flashes).

Gearhead, The flasher actually works flawlessly, the frequency is correct and the all turnsignals work great, I would probably say you get full light and then 20% light in between the flashes on the dash, signals turns off like they should.
In the dash I have three tiny LEDs in a row with a resistor in the end, that series is calculated with a 14.4V top in mind. (Think the orange LEDs got a 160ohm resistor in the end, but have to check what I put there).

Maybe it will behave differently when the bike is running and the voltage is higher.

so I know what to buy, what style bulbs are in the instrument panel?

"Wedge" base (194) type; I used LEDs for illumination but as indicators they were too bright.

I wanted to convert everything to LED anyway, so I got everything I'll need to replace all the dash lights from superbrightleds.com While I was on their website I noticed that they sell UV black light LEDs. Has anybody tried using these to light guages? Would it be worth the effort?

Update time. I got my LEDs today and replaced everything in the instrument panel. The turn signals and indicator light all flashed but they were very dim.
So then I used jumper wire to put the indicator in parallel to the signals and now everything works like it's supposed to.
