ok so now that i have gotten my bike running, im going to be working on updating the safety features. i know i need new back brakes and i have not looked but im assuming front brakes as well as new lines, mine have 12/80 stamped on them!

Just looking to get some heads up on brake line kits and what ever else i may need, possibly some good write up as well. going to do the master cyclinder too.

I found these brake shoes on ebay are these adequate? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Rear-Brak ... 892wt_1170

Any guesses on how long an overhual of this nature may take? assuming everything goes smoothly, lol

Glad to hear you got the engine running!

What I did when restoring all safety items on the bike was to make sure that things coincide with each other. To explain it better, when I removed the front wheel to replace the tire, I also replaced the front wheel bearings, rebuilt the caliber, replaced the brake lines, brake pads and rebuilt the master cylinder, serviced the speedo drive gear and balanced the new tire and installed a new tire valve stem.

If you plan out stages like that and have the replacement parts ready, then down time is fairly minimal and you don't have to go back and disassemble what was once apart already.

I would say not to rush, but make sure your thorough and double check everything that you do.

I took my bike from a potential disaster to a road safe bike in about 2 months.

    Hope this helped...

I bought my brake lines from Len as well. Very good quality and a choice of colors. I used blue on the Seca and red on the Maxim.

You could also have a look at Rennsport auto parts and Z1entreprises, but you would have to measure your lines accurately and take note of the banjo bolts angles and rotation (unless you go with one swivel end) before you order from them.
