Morally wrong??? I'll tell you what Morally wrong. Having the National Guard and Reservists carry the load for everybody else. There's guys over there that are effectively incarcerated fighting a bullshit war while everybody else is having a good time watching American Idol, Lost and Oprah.

Here’s a novel approach to bringing President Bush’s “War on Terror” to end. Get more people involved in really wanting that situation brought to a close. Just start Drafting some replacement for those overworked and shell-shocked indentured mercenaries. Rotate!

Right now, the responsibility for fighting the “War waged under false pretenses” is right on the backs of the limited supply of total G.I.'s available.
A number, significantly reduced, by nearly 4,000 Troops who came home as freight in Flag-draped, re-usable coffins.

Keeping an adequate supply of Troops in, or heading to, or heading- back to, Iraq -- by extending the Enlistment Contracts of the volunteers, sending Reservists back for a second or third tour and using the National Guard when they are needed to respond to emergencies at home is unconscionable.

We need able-body’s for immediate openings with the US Army, US Navy and the United States Marine Corps. I strongly suspect, after the induction notices get mailed, recipient’s physical exams passed and all the hugs and kisses good-bye are done; there will be some family and friends so adversely effected that they’ll drag-out their Peace Sign’s and will be compelled to protest this war, too!

Enough, I hope ... for “Standing Room Only” around the reflecting pool at the Washington Monument. A record crowd would be nice!

    Well, folks ...
For 1845 Posts ... I concentrated on getting other people's motorcycles working a little bit better than before they asked for help.

The 50 Years ago Post pops-up and we get to see how the times have changed.

    I'm a dyed-in-the-wool motorcycle guy.
My nephew and I would like to go riding. He's got a neat-looking "Zook" he had all done-up to his liking and ought to be able to ride it.

His enlistment was up ... LAST Thanksgiving.
They extended him for a 3rd time!
He's not coming home until October.
Someone left the rant door open when I walked by.

    I'm doing my part.
My mission is to be one voice in dissent.

    I accept that responsibility.
You can still get your bike's fixed.

Not to change the subject, but....
My hat's off to all the men and women in Iraq right now, watching our backs while we're dabbling in semantics on the internet.
I am forever indebted to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country so we could be here to discuss motorcycles on this Memorial Day weekend. I salute you all.

Normally I do not comment on political threads.

I have great respect for the Soldiers who have served their countrys in all the wars on all the sides. Brave people who risked their lives and gave their lives to defend what they believe in.

I would not like to find myself or my children or their children in a war.

Saying that, the only Americans who are (or ever have been) in danger from Iraq are IN Iraq. The Soldiers in Iraq are not defending America or watching your back. They are being dis honored by their political leaders.

Bring them home. Safe, to their loved ones.

I don't know the answer to the problem, but I do know killing the people of Iraq, the USA, the UK and Austrailia is not the answer. :(

    Peace be with you all.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Captainkirk, this post not aimed at you, no offence intended.

Rick, the answer is not more in the line of fire, bring them home let the people of Iraq sort their sh*t out themselves. They are not thanking your brave Soldiers, they are killing them. :(

Old-Grunt, have your say. We can all have opinions, use your right of free speach, no one will be offended (I hope we are all Adults here). Polite debate and free speach is a freedom hard won.

Others also no offence intended, as I said we all have Much Respect for Soldiers everywhere.

I hope this reads as I intened it to mean.

Talking about how times have changed... I was recently in Massachusetts to visit some relatives and take the Civil Service test. My uncle in law had mentioned how when he was a kid in Norwood, they would walk down the street with his 22, and go to the Police Station to shoot.

Nowadays, there is no more gun club, and walking around with a rifle would not be condoned, let alone encouraged.

I'm not saying we need to send more troops over to where the oil is buried.
I'm saying we need more troops.

This fiasco is on the backs of a limited number of troops and their family's.
We sent over The National Guard.

When the tornado erased a good part of Kansas. The Guard didn't show.
    They were otherwise engaged.
Along with their trucks and equipment.
That's where I draw the line.

The United States Armed Forces NEED more troops ... across the board.
We don't need to hand them all a gun.
    Some can use mops.
Others can help cook and wash dishes.

I'm recommending we Draft --The Armed Forces -- back up to full strength.

If there happens to be an ill conceived war raging while the inductees are being summoned to Basic Training; there is likely to be some who will see fit to protest.

I'm hoping for two and a half to three million!

Don't be disrespectful to your elders.
I didn't say send anyone; anywhere.

I said strengthen The Armed Forces.
Gray hairs, like me are exempt from being Drafted.
Some of us are lucky, with our names spelled-out on the right Government Form.

    USGov Form DD-214
    Honorable Discharge.

Others had their name written on a different form!

USAF 82-88, and I always support our Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Marines.

Fortunately I am not in a position to make the tough desicions about who will go, and possibly die, and which situation requires physical force. Nor do I have the full and appropriate information necessary to make those decisions.

Its just that I dont know there names! but I thought greyhairs would sum it up! you know genarlize.

Anywayz I figure i watch to many westerns, and my strong emotional feelings I have about certain subjects dont make for good post!

just because we have freedom of speech, its not a garuntee that some one wont take it wrong and start a war!

sorry if I offended you rick

thought I would explain the westerns thing...thats what the indians called are politicans back in them days...and that is the ....rest....of...thestory..

Perhaps he's thinking of what Paul Bäumer suggested in All Quiet on the Western Front, that the politicians should be pitted against each other, and whoever is left, his country wins.

I think that would cut down on the number of wars being fought.
